Camp mud 2019
Fee: $250 per half day session, $550 for full day
Camp Mud offers a great introduction to working with clay for young potters and clay artists aged 9 to 14. We help develop skills in throwing on the potter’s wheel as well as a variety of hand-building techniques.
The instructor gives a solid grounding in pottery fundamentals. On the wheel, students are taught how to center a mound of clay and later how to throw, trim and glaze their pots. All will learn how to make cups, bowls and other simple forms. With handbuilding, they will explore making functional and decorative objects.
The week-long sessions begin on June 24; the final week ends on August 16. There are no classes from July 1 through July 12. Limited full day sessions available. The fee for each session includes the cost of clay, materials and firing. Full day campers bring a bagged lunch.
Students should wear clothes that can get dirty, trim long fingernails short and tie back long hair. They should bring an old towel for wiping their hands. (Towels can also be rented for $1.00 each time.)
Hinckley Pottery reserves the right to cancel a session if enrollment does not reach a minimum of five students. Maximum class size is 10. There are no refunds for registrations canceled less than three weeks before the session begins. There are no refunds for absences. If a session is canceled because of insufficient enrollment, Hinckley Pottery will make a full refund.
