Artist Reception on Friday, June 7th, 7pm - 9pm
Hinckley Pottery is pleased to host its first month-long Potter Showcase this June, featuring the work of the very talented Ryan McDonnell. His beautiful porcelain and stoneware pots reflect a fascination with the alchemy of unusual glaze combos. Ryan’s pots are available to view (and buy) all of June. He will do some demos and talk about his work at our artist reception. Admission is free.
Ryan has a long connection with our studio and has worked in the DC area for more than 15 years. He is coordinator of the GWU Ceramics and Sculpture Studio and teaches at Montgomery College, Rockville. He has also taught at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and in DC public schools. His work has been shown at venues ranging from DC area community days to the Smithsonian Craft Show to international exhibits in Berlin, Germany and Brisbane, Australia. He uses several mediums in the creation of his work including ceramics, stone, wood, and metal.
Ryan is very active in community service and his art work has benefited a mix of local nonprofits, charities and youth organizations. He has received a number of grants from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, all of them have revolved around mentoring and exposing youth to artistic mediums not commonly taught in public schools.
