Hinckley PotteryA great introduction to clay, this special session for budding potters aged 9 to 14 helps develop skills in throwing on the potter’s wheel and provides a solid grounding in pottery fundamentals.
Students are taught how to center a mound of clay on the potter’s wheel, and how to throw, trim and glaze their pots. They learn how to make cups, bowls and other simple forms.
To prepare for class, students should dress in clothes they don't mind getting dirty, trim their fingernails short, tie back long hair, and bring an old towel for wiping their hands.
The Winter and Spring 2011 sessions are each 8 classes long. The fee for the 8 classes is $280. Cost of clay, use of tools and equipment, glazes and firing are included in the fee. Full payment is required at registration.
Hinckley Pottery reserves the right to cancel a session if enrollment does not reach a minimum of five students. Maximum class size is 10.
There is a $70.00 cancellation fee if registration is cancelled at least three weeks before the session begins; no refunds are given after that date. If a session is full or is cancelled, a full refund will be made. There are no refunds for absences and no make up sessions will be scheduled.
Class meets on Sundays from 12:30 to 3:00 pm.
